Born in 1917 in Hanoi. Graduated from the fine Arts College in French Indochina (Promotion 1939-1944).
1945 - 1946 Member of the Association of Culture for the National Salvation.
1947 - 1951 Official of the Union of Vietnamese Youth. Painter-decorator for the Information Institution.
1956 Head of the Vietnamese fine arts exhibition to China, Mongolia and Korea.
1957 - 1979 Professor at the Fine Arts College of Vietnam in Hanoi.
1980 Member of the Delegation of Vietnamese painters at the Symposium and exhibition "Intergrafik" in Berlin.
Study visit to Russia.
1983 - 1984 Study visit to Cambodia and Laos.
1988 ( with Nguyen-Thi-Kim ) Exhibition in Poland and study visit to Czechoslovakia and Germany.
1993 ( with Nguyen-Thi-Kim ) Exhibition of paintings at the
l'Alliance Franchise in Hanoi.
Pham Van Don's works are displayed and preserved in the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, the Museum of Revolution, the Museum of Dien Bien Phu, the People Army Museum in Vietnam and in several museums in others countries (Germany, Russia, France, Sweden, etc.). His works can also be seen in several private collections of Vietnamese and foreign collectors.
